Outrageous Hospitality

Outrageous Hospitality at UALC

Making everyone feel warmly welcomed.

Why is Outrageous Hospitality Important?

Outrageous Hospitality is one of our top priorities. What does it mean? From a Christian perspective it says to a guest, "We were expecting you. We're so glad you've come. We want you to come back because of your experience today." It's being intentional from the parking lot, to the worship experience, to the signage and food, that you matter and we were anticipating your arrival. It's not just on Sunday morning, but all the time, in every event and ministry in our buildings.

What Will Your Role Be?

As Outrageous Hospitality is a key component in our Mission Statement “to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ,” we are seeking to create hospitality that is outrageous, anticipating, intentional and Christ-centered. We seek to love and reach others as he did, through looking beyond ourselves and welcoming all who enter our doors.

People’s first impressions of our church often rest not on what happens in the worship service, but the sort of interactions they have both coming and going from church.  Would you consider volunteering to help with Outrageous Hospitality? There are opportunities for all sorts of personalities and gifting—there are greeters, information center volunteers, ushers and coffee team helpers.

The following opportunities are open to you on Sunday mornings:
  • Greeting Team: help greet people by the front doors and give people a friendly, “Have a great day!” upon leaving.
  • Concierge: stand in front of the Mill Run Welcome Center desk to answer questions and proactively help folks who look lost by personally guiding them where they need to go.
  • "Connect Center": serve at the communications’ hub at either Mill Run or Lytham Road as the point of contact for questions, those needing information; pass out a bag to first-time guests.
  • Mingler: mingle during coffee hour, greeting people who aren’t engaged in conversation.
  • Usher: help greet, seat and assist with the offering during worship at Mill Run or Lytham Road.
  • Coffee Helper: brew coffee, host or clean-up, just once every 6-7 weeks.
